Maybe you can fly away to Tahiti… OR… there are some simple but wonderful alternatives right here in Arizona…
At InSite OilChange we know how much COVID-19 has had a big effect on all our day-to-day lives. Over 37 million Americans traveled oversees in 2019. But now we are staying at home more often and traveling less, so you may be looking for some local alternatives. If you are looking for some activities to keep you busy as the weather gets cooler, Arizona has many things to do while we practice “social distancing”.
But first, “a word from our sponsor”!
…Don’t forget to have InSite OilChange make sure your car, truck, SUV or RV is ready for the road trip with a fresh oil change performed at your location.
We often get last-minute requests when folks are headed out of town for a weekend or longer and we can’t always squeeze them in. So try to plan ahead for that all-important oil change service!
Now on to some great trip ideas…
The Grand Canyon:
The South Rim is the most developed part of the Grand Canyon National Park. It offers amenities such as bus service, hotels and water stations, but is also more crowded than the North Rim. Scenic highlights include Pipe Creek Vista and Yavapai Point. If you’ve been to the South Rim (as many have) there are many other ways to enjoy this massive national park. Check them out at this website below. You’ll see info about the North and South Rims but also the East and West Canyons and more.
Sedona:
Sedona is a perfect place to have a family adventure or romantic getaway and to reconnect with nature. Surrounded by nearly 2 million acres of pristine national forest, Sedona is a 19-square-mile oasis with big vistas and colorful red rock formations. Add to this a mild, four-season climate, a small-town atmosphere, numerous outdoor recreational activities, a rich cultural life with a cosmopolitan flair, and a safe, unhurried lifestyle, and it is easy to see why Sedona is attractive to couples and families as a rejuvenating getaway. The old downtown is fun, especially if you can avoid crowds by going on a weekday. If you have the time, check out nearby Prescott or Jerome.
Sedona Rainbow Trout Farm:
The Rainbow Trout Farm is a fun place to visit. It was established in the 1950’s in freshwater springs flowing out of the Oak Creek Canyon wall. The original pond was built very close to the east wall – it moved in the 1970s. The second, smaller fishing pond was added in the 1990s.
They currently stock Rainbow Trout (and plenty of it!). All of the trout are hatched from eggs and raised to full size right there on the property, in fresh artesian spring water. They don’t use any antibiotics or hormones, and only high-quality fish feed in raising them. Children especially love seeing the fish, and you can pay a reasonable fee to catch one with provided poles and bait.
Lake Pleasant:
This lake has 114 miles of shoreline (!) and boasts some fantastic scenery, with its surrounding area being great for hiking, picnicking, mountain biking and camping. There are two marinas on the lake’s shoreline that offer boat rentals (the JetSki above is a rental), storage and mooring, as well as having a shop and a restaurant.

Saguaro Lake:
Saguaro Lake, an easy drive east of Phoenix, is known being a peaceful getaway. It’s also great for fishing, with rainbow trout, largemouth bass, yellow bass, crappie, channel catfish, tilapia and a variety of other fish calling the lake home. Kayaking, water skiing, sailing and jet skiing are also welcomed and enjoyed within the lake. There are excellent hiking trails around the lake that go through many open and forested areas.

Mogollon Rim:
Stretching 200 miles from Yavapai County to New Mexico, the Mogollon Rim provides many breathtaking views overlooking expansive forests of pine trees. The rim is a true geological wonder hosting sedimentary, volcanic and metamorphic rock dating back to the Precambrian era. You can hike, camp, ride horseback, rent watercraft and more.
When you do escape for a short or long road trip, InSite OilChange is here for you when you need an oil change done at your location.
And here’s one more suggestion. If you’re concerned about the cleanliness of hotel rooms or simply want a fun lodging idea, why not try an RV rental? There are many RV rental offerings online.

Tire pressure (and tire condition) is important when you’re going to be zooming down the highway, as is the level of all the fluids that keep your vehicle running well and safely. Even if you don’t need an oil change, InSite OilChange is happy to answer any questions.
Thanks for visiting, and have a great trip! No matter where you decide to go, here’s a great website that has info about the places we’ve mentioned, plus it has all sorts of information about many other wonderful Arizona day or weekend trip ideas:
